Welcome to Golden Isles Center for Plastic Surgery
Two locations to serve you, St. Simons Island and Waycross
Plastic Surgery is the art of using modern techniques and technology to restore to people the beauty and function that time, trauma and disease have stolen. While major surgical advances have been made in times of war, non invasive techniques have flourished in times of peace, when people need to look and feel their best to compete in the work place. Dr. Diane Bowen discusses why she enjoys being a plastic surgeon:
“Plasticos is a Greek word that means malleable and moldable. As a plastic surgeon, I have the privilege to take advantage of the “plastic” nature that God gave the human body. This malleability allows me to reconstruct a skin cancer defect, to reshape a lady’s figure with lipocontouring and augmentation or in the case of cancer, breast reconstruction, to remove a birthmark which mars a child’s face and to resurface and refresh skin which is severely sun damaged. I feel plastic surgery allows me to help people in a unique manner which is very rewarding for both me and the patient.”
A plastic surgeon has many resources available to assist patients. While surgery is still an option for breast reduction, breast cancer reconstruction, augmentation, face lift, skin cancer reconstruction, many non invasive techniques are now available. Laser treatments can be used to fade vascular birthmarks and light based treatments can permanently reduce undesired facial and body hair. New technologies including chemical peels can resurface severely damaged skin to restore a more radiant appearance. While non surgical technologies abound, sometimes only surgery can achieve the desired results. As a board certified fellowship trained plastic surgeon, Dr. Diane Bowen can help you determine how to best accomplish your goals. You can rely on her training and expertise to help you through the process, taking the time to listen to you before your treatment or surgery, and providing the highest quality care following your surgery as you recover. Her and her staff’s attention to detail ensures that your total plastic surgery and rejuvenation experience is superior.
“Dr. Bowen to you and your team…had to share a smile today. I spent about two hours washing my hair today, de-scabbing all the dried spots, brushed on a little foundation and eye makeup and stood standing at the mirror endlessly. I know there’s still some swelling and bruising to move through, but I had the biggest tears of satisfaction as I looked at a younger me staring back…..honestly I can’t even describe what I saw and felt. It really does feel life changing for me; I know that’s selfish when others are moving through such pain in their surgeries in order to simply be healthy going forward….but as a gift to myself and making me the best I can ever hope to be inside and out…..I would do this again in a heartbeat.
I also wanted to compliment the whole team, their caring, their patience with all the questions, their encouragement, their friendliness, their interest and support…your whole group is remarkable.
Merry Christmas to all of you and my sincere thanks from today’s young lady staring back at me from the mirror.”
